Due to the extreme heat, after school Cross Country and Intramural Football activities have been cancelled. Because Volleyball occurs inside, today's game is not cancelled.
 
Students at Westfield in grades 2-8 now have access to Compass Learning at home and at school. Additionally, Compass Learning now integrates with Scantron for students in grades 4-8 to create individual learning paths. Please follow the link to view the letter for more information.

The entire 8th grade, 326 students, will be experiencing “Ellis Island” for a day on Friday, September 6th.  The immigration simulation has students take on the role as 1900s European immigrants traversing the arduous and frightening trek of Ellis Island. Students use 21st Century learning skills, critical thinking, creativity, communication, and communication to maneuver through their journey to become Americans. 

 
Parents and students are strongly encouraged to check student records (attendance records, grades, etc.) on Infinite Campus regularly. To sign up for the Parent Portal, go to http://www.d300.org/node/1924 and follow the instructions. For middle school students, midterm grades will be posted on Infinite Campus after approximately four weeks into each quarter, while quarterly report cards will be posted after the end of each quarter.
 
Dear Westfield Middle School Parents,

Next week, on Wednesday, September 11, we are hosting  a special parent event called “Tips and Tools to talk to Tweens and Teens.”  This event is sponsored by D300 and Community-Matters, and will take place from 6 pm -8pm at Westfield in the Professional Development  Center. Some topics that will be covered include:
  • What parents can do to enhance student safety.
  • Communication strategies to use with teens. 
  • Understanding bullying and equipping teens with tools to stand up.
Please see the flier below  for additional information. Snacks will be served, and we will have some exciting door prizes. We hope to see you there!

The first middle school late start of the year is on Tuesday, August 27. School starts at 10:10am.

 
Tomorrow is the PTO's Back to School Picnic! The event runs from 4-6pm at the school outside of Door 12. Please join us for food, fun, and friends! There will be a bounce house, games and a DJ. Also, enter to win an iPad Mini!!
 
The 8th Grade Back to School Parent Night will occur on Thursday, August 22. 
  • Parents who have students in band/orchestra/chorus will report to the middle school gym at 6:30pm to hear about these music programs. 
  • All parents will report to the middle school gym at 7:00pm  to hear presentations from PE, Exploratory, and PBIS. 
  • Parents will then report to teams from 7:15-8:00pm to hear about team activities and specific core classes.
 
The 7th Grade Back to School Parent Night will occur on Tuesday, August 20.
