Staff:
·         All elementary classes are invited to the 1st grade program at 8:30am on Wednesday, Dec. 11th.
 
·         Fa-la-la-la-la! It’s still not too late to join us in practicing for our staff songs for the elementary holiday sing. We will meet for short practices the next two weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2:45. See you there!

Elementary School:
·         The HANDS Club would to thank those that contributed to our holiday food drive. We collected 217 items to help families in need. 
  
·         Capture your favorite memories of your teacher, classmates and friends by purchasing an elementary yearbook.  Orders can be made online or with a check made out to Inter-State Studios for $17 by Friday

·         Please, please, please check the lost and found - - there is a TON of stuff there.  Everything will there will be donated before winter break.

·         Westfield's Got Talent Audition dates for the February Fun Fair will be announced when students return from the Holiday Break.  We are pleased to announce that in addition to our middle school students, we are inviting our 5th graders to bring their talent to the competition this year as well!  
 
Middle School:
·         Please, please, please check the lost and found - - there is a TON of stuff there.  Everything will there will be donated before winter break.
 
·         MS School Wrestling season begins Jan. 6th.  The team is open to all 6th/7th and 8th  grade students.  If you are interested in joining the team please stop by the MS office and pick up an athletic packet.  The athletic packet has to be filled out and returned before you are allowed to practice.  Only need yellow emergency card and payment if participated in a sport already this school year.  You are required to have a physical in order to practice or wrestle.  We offer an‘intramural’ program for all 6th grade students. 
Informational meeting will be during your ELT time in the elementary gym for all interested boys.
 o    7th grade boys: meeting Monday Dec. 16th at 1:20pm
 o    8th grade boys: meeting Monday Dec. 16th at 2:07pm
 o    6th grade boys: meeting Monday Dec. 16th at 2:45pm

·         Capture the school year in pictures.  Order your middle school yearbook now.   Middles School Yearbooks are an 80 page full color book.  The yearbooks will include an autograph insert sheet for friends to sign at the end of the school year.  Yearbooks will be delivered over the summer so we can be sure to capture recognition night and spring sporting events in the book. Order your Middle School yearbook online. Use flyer code: 446323 or complete an order form and return it to school to pay by check.  The full color yearbook is only $23 if ordered by Thursday, February 28, 2014.  After this date, the cost will increase to $25.   All orders must be received by April 30, 2014. Visit https://www.inter-state.com/store/preorder and order today.

D300:
 ·         D300 Piano Festival is scheduled for March 18th.   Register online at www.d300.org after Jan 7th.  Fee is $5.
 
Parents:
 ·         Attention WCS 8th Grade Parents!  It is now time for your student to log into the Infinite Campus Student Portal and complete the Freshman Elective Request Form. Students are to complete this task from home before December 13, 2013. Please see the attached list of freshman elective course offerings or log onto d300.org/freshman for more information. Contact 8th Grade School Counselor Kelly Baker, with questions.

 ·         The Westfield Community School Rummage Sale and Craft Fair is coming! Mark your calendar for Saturday, January 25. If you are interested in buying a space to sell your stuff at the Rummage Sale, please see the Westfield website or contact us at 847-532-7600.

 ·         Attn. Parents of Kindergartners:  All kindergarten students are required by Illinois law to have proof of an eye exam by an optometrist or eye doctor (ophthalmologist) on file with the school by October 15th.  If you
have not submitted your paperwork to the school nurse, please do so asap.  Required forms can be found on the D300 website under Health Services.   Any questions, call Julie Yelton at 847-532-7608.
 
·         Phone Messages:  Please inform your child of changes in transportation or after school plans BEFORE they leave for school as messages interrupt the instructional program. (Parent/Student Handbook)
 
·         Students  are expected to be dressed to go outside every day.  Students will only stay indoors if the temperature is less than ten degrees or is raining.  If your student is not wearing boots and snowpants, he/she must remain on the shoveled black top area. (Parent/Student Handbook)

·         Kindergarten & Preschool Registration will be held on Thursday, February 20th, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Please call the elementary office 847-532-7800 if you have an incoming kindergartener, who will be 5 as of September 1, 2014 and Preschoolers must be 3 years of age to being preschool at Westfield.

Local:
 ·         Cub Scout Pack 153 is sponsoring Parent’s Night out on December 13th from 6pm to 9pm at WCS.  Cost is $10 per child.  Contact Bob Knuerr with questions 847-226-5480 (VB 12/3)
